Scandinavian chic meets Alpine hospitality in Val Thorens at the five-star Altapura. The Altapura stands out in the Val Thorens landscape with its strikingly bold and Scandinavian architecture. Built and run by the Sibuet family, who have much experience in running ski hotels in the Alps, the Altapura offers modern luxury and efficient, personal service, at the top of the world’s largest ski area. The hotel also has its own ski shop. You can pre-book your skis when you book your room and take advantage of the made to measure service when you arrive.
The interior design is a modern take on the mountain theme, creating an atmosphere of glamour and sophistication. All 106 rooms, suites, and duplexes at the hotel are elegantly appointed and well-equipped. Expect luxurious decor, an iMac computer linked to the TV (Apple TV), fluffy bathrobes, Nespresso coffee machine, Pure Altitude bath products, and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains in every room or suite. There is a room or suite for every occasion, with interconnecting rooms available for families and large groups. The entry-level Classic Room is a beautiful nest for a well-deserved rest after a day on the slopes. The Classic Room is complete with a double bed and a pull out sofa that can accommodate a small child. The Cocooning Suite and Family Duplex are the largest options available at 50 square metres. The latter is spread across two levels with grand windows looking out across the mountains. The first level of the Family Duplex has a spacious living room with a sofa bed for up to 2 children and a small adjoining bedroom and bathroom. On the second level, the open mezzanine has a double bed under the eaves with a boudoir-style bathroom and signature bathtub. It’s the perfect environment for some grown-ups time, once the children go to bed.
The two main restaurants at the hotel provide fantastic options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The first is 2.Mille.3. This restaurant is ideally situated on an exceptional terrace that looks toward the Caron summit. This restaurant offers an alternative take on the traditional, including hot dishes from the rotisserie, Asian woks and pasta dishes. The second main restaurant is Les Enfants Terribles. Here, guests can savour classic French cuisine along with exceptional dishes, like the traditional Enfants Terribles style filet of beef, the exclusive lobster roll or the authentic sole meunière. No alpine hotel would be complete without fondue, and Altapura is no exception. Discover exclusive fondue and raclette at La Laiterie Restaurant. Here, the cheesy, gooey delight has been created with care and attention by the hotel’s Chef in combination with cheesemaker Boujon – one of the most passionate cheesemongers of the region.
For Apres Ski, the Altapura’s Spa and wellness facilities are extensive, with an indoor and outdoor pool, steam room, sauna, ice chamber and a good range of treatments.
