Cinnamon Air operates a 45-minute transfer once daily between Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport and Dickwella – just 10-minutes from the resort. A private helicopter or Cinnamon Air flight can be chartered any time of day. For those who prefer the scenic land route, Bandaranaike International Airport is approximately 3.5 hours away from the resort while Mattala International Airport is an estimated 1.5 hours drive away.

Sample Holiday Itinerary

Day 1

Upon arrival at the Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort it will be impossible not to be mesmerised by the grand entrance. Check in, and make your way to your home for the next 9 nights. Your premier beachfront room is modern, light, airy and decorated with touches of contemporary Sri Lankan design. With direct beach access, a private terrace, separate shower and bathtub, nespresso machine and wine humidor, everything that you could possibly need to revive yourself after a flight can be found within the room. Freshen up before exploring everything that this fantastic resort has to offer. Beach bliss awaits. Take a relaxing stroll on the beach. Enjoy the stunning 25-metre pool at the centre of the resort, overlooking the ocean. Challenge your partner to a friendly game of tennis or badminton on the open air courts.

Travelling with children? There’s something for children and young teenagers too at the resort. They may prefer to spend a few hours at the Anantara’s Joli Kids and Teen’s Club where they can enjoy endless hours of entertainment.

In the evening, as you’ll be enjoying a half board stay, feel free to choose from any of the three restaurants on site. There’s Journey’s – a restaurant specialising in international delicacies – also the restaurant where breakfast is served. Il Mare, famous for its moonlit beachside Italian cuisine and wine. And lastly, Verala serving scintillating dishes with culinary theatre.

Day 2

Wake up for your first full day in Sri Lanka. Head to Journey’s for a delicious breakfast. Feast on the breakfast buffet or select a delicious treat from the à la carte menu.

After breakfast explore the resort’s eco-system on a complimentary 90 minute walk with the resort’s nature guru. Visit the horticultural gardens, mangroves, an organic rice field, and the turtle conservation area. Alternatively, use the complimentary bikes available to tour the local area. Admire the colourful temples, wildlife, bustling markets, and the beauty of Tangalle as it unfolds before your eyes.

Get Active! After a leisurely morning, spend the afternoon at the beach. Beginners can learn to surf at Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle. It is the only resort in Sri Lanka to offer exclusive programmes with Tropicsurf. Or why not try stand-up paddleboarding? You can paddleboard in the ocean or embark on a stand-up paddleboarding excursion as you explore the south coast of Sri Lanka with a knowledgeable guide.

After an active afternoon enter a soothing sanctuary of lush greenery, blooming lotuses and indigenous design. At the award-winning Anantara Spa, unwind in a multitude of ways. Day 3

Despite the privacy and seclusion of the Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort, the location is ideal for exploring Sri Lanka’s most famous sites. Rock Temple is just 40 minutes away and Udawalawe National Park is less than 90 minutes away. Matara, Mirissa, Koggala, and Galle are all easily accessible by car too. This means that you can explore by day, and return to your incredibly luxurious room on an evening. You will never need to compromise on luxury or quality.

There are a range of excursions which can be booked directly with the resort. Some of the excursions on offer include the Handunugoda Tea Plantation excursion, this tea plantation is famous for its virgin tea that is untouched by human hands. There are also excursions to Yala and Udawalawe National Park, Bundala National Park, Sinharaja Forest Reserve, and last, but certainly not least, you can even go whale watching between December and April. Most excursions take several hours so they’re a full day activity. However the sites, and experiences on offer are authentic and one of a kind.

If you’re planning to stay within the resort and the surrounding areas on day 3, then why not try a cooking class? Book a class with the Spice Spoons cooking school at the resort to try your hand at creating several authentic Sri Lankan dishes. Your class will begin with a local visit to the market by tuk-tuk. Once you arrive at the market you will, purchase local ingredients with the help of a guide. Back at the resort, you will be able to learn new techniques and recipes to impress back home, as you cook up a storm!
