Marigot Bay Resort and Marina, Marigot Bay

Adorned by lovers of luxury and described by American Novelist James Michener as “the most beautiful Bay in the Caribbean”, Marigot Bay is coveted holiday destination. Situated on the west side of the island, approximately four miles south of Castries, St Lucia’s capital city, the area is a lush, tropical paradise blanketed with flowering trees and cradled by sparkling emerald waters. Inside, the décor blends colonial-explorer trappings with St. Lucian art and motifs. The choice of materials and finishes are on-brand for Capella, whose portfolio of resorts and hotels draws an affluent crowd. All 124 rooms and suites are stylishly designed with dark wood accents and bright white walls, but West Indian influences are present in the splashes of elegant aqua, coral and rainforest greens which ensconce cushions and bring the dining tables to life. Acqua di Parma bathroom amenities simply add to the luxurious feel of the bathrooms, with double basins, sumptuous bath robes and walk-in showers.

With a variety of dining options such as The Grill at 14⁰61⁰, Bayside Café and a romantic treehouse, and several options for an evening drink including the Rum Cave inspired by the Caribbean’s Colonial Era rum distilleries, the Capella caters for every and any occasion from a casual meal to a private anniversary dinner in a unique setting under the stars. On site facilities also include the Auriga Spa which is  a private sanctuary where guests to can enjoy the natural restorative essences of the island. Sample St Lucia Holiday Itinerary

Prior to departure, you will receive a bespoke itinerary created by a Rich Vein Travel expert filled with advice and recommendations. Read an extract of one of our itineraries for St Lucia below.

Day 1

Touch down at Hewanorra International Airport (UVF), the larger of St Lucia’s two airports. Located approximately an hour away and perched above the Caribbean’s most beautiful inlet, this five-star hotel is built into a lush hillside, with spacious suites maximising views of the bay. Lined with exotic palm-trees, a strip of beach and deep turquoise waters, the views from the suites are a spectacular sight in themselves. Once you arrive, you will be provided with a refreshing welcome drink and then escorted to your home for the next 3 nights. In your suite, you will find a spacious king-size bed, a Nespresso coffee machine in your own spacious kitchen, a laundry room, air conditioning and his and her sinks in your elegant bathroom. As you get acquainted with the sound-system, and log onto the Wi-Fi, allow yourself to completely unwind and relax. This is the first day of your dream Caribbean vacation.

For dinner, head to The Grill which is one of four restaurants on site. Specialising in high quality seafood caught by local fishermen The Grill is known for its impressive fish dishes cooked on the open fire in the middle of the restaurant. With an outside patio, you have the choice of dining in The Grill’s modern Caribbean-inspired restaurant or sitting outside overlooking the bay. We recommend the seared snapper, or the 14on16ow Cocoa Ginger sauce if opting for a grilled meat dish.

Day 2

Spend today discovering all that this resort has to offer, and discover why James Michener called Marigot Bay the “most beautiful in the Caribbean”. With extensive variety, the buffet breakfast can please every guest with pastries, fresh omelettes, fruit platters and more. After finally deciding what to try first, admire the view from breakfast overlooking the Bay prepare yourself for your first full day in St Lucia. Spend the morning relaxing at the two infinity pools with accompanying poolside bars as the serene ambiance allows your mind to relax in utter peace and tranquillity. The Capella Poolside experience centres luxury with floating lounge chairs, designer cabanas, umbrellas, shaded day beds and a swim up bar. Every hour, you will enjoy surprise complimentary amenities such as fresh fruit smoothies, caramelized popcorn lollipops and more.

Feel the sand between your toes on the small sandy beach in the middle of the Bay which is ideal for sunbathing and swimming. In the afternoon swap the fruity cocktails for the warmth of Caribbean rum at the Rum Cave. In addition to light bites for lunch, you can participate in a rum tasting session. Every sip from every bottle will make your heart smile as the complex aromas carried in this brilliant amber liquid wash over your taste buds. Here you will truly begin to appreciate why rum is one of the Caribbean’s greatest exports.
In the evening, why not try Masala Bay for dinner? Brought to you by Adil Sherwani, Masala Bay serves exceptional Indian cuisine, inspired by the energetic beauty of Marigot Bay. With an open kitchen, you will also have the opportunity to watch your meal prepared and cooked before your eyes.

Day 3

Today you will sail along the west coast of aboard a catamaran visiting some of the island’s most spectacular sights such as the Sulphur Springs, the region’s only drive-in volcano, the gigantic Pitons, and the waterfalls at the Diamond Botanical Gardens. Along the way expect lots of time for swimming, snorkelling and relaxing. Throughout the day your guide will also help you navigate walking trails as they impart local knowledge and tips for what to see and do on the island. On this particular tour, there is no time to hike Gros Piton (hiking Petit Piton is not sanctioned by the St Lucian government). However we have allocated a whole morning to this on day six. Back at the hotel, freshen up and walk down to the Hurricane Hole for a hearty dinner after today’s jam packed day. Each evening, the Café transforms into a vibrant meeting place for hotel guests, boaters, and locals to gather.

Day 4

In the morning spend a few hours strolling through the Castries, the main city of St Lucia. We recommend avoiding the markets altogether although this is often touted as a tourist attraction. Instead, spend your morning exploring the city and finding quirky boutiques in the recesses. Visit The Pink Plantation House for an authentic Caribbean lunch. Perched above the Castries, this 140 year old former colonial mansion turned restaurant is renowned for its ambience, flavourful food, and scenic views of the coastline. In the afternoon unwind at the hotel’s Aruiga Spa. Nestled in lush tropical foliage this indoor/outdoor refuge is an oasis of relaxation. Start your spa journey with the steam inhalation room, before moving onto the Jacuzzi, sauna and cabana. After this, allow the Auriga spa therapists to create a memorable experience for you alone or you and your partner simultaneously. With signature treatments inspired by phases of the moon, and treatments using techniques passed down through generations, your afternoon at Aruiga will be a spa experience like no other. Feeling at one with your mind, soul, and spirit prepare yourself for another incredible dinner courtesy of The Grill. But this time you will dine with your companion in a private tree-house. Tucked away within lush foliage, the Treehouse offers an intimate fairy-tale setting for intimate dining.
