One&Only Reethi Rah

Lying in the Indian Ocean is an exclusive destination awash in shades of teal and indigo with sunlit sky. Formerly known as ‘King’s Island’ where the ancient royal dynasties ruled, today this special place is called The Maldives. Inviting blue lagoons, coral ring-like atolls, and soft white sand are synonymous with this destination. However, over time, The Maldives has also become synonymous with luxury resorts, that excel in the exceptional. The One&Only Reethi Rah, is perhaps the most famous of them all, and with good reason. This superb all-villa resort offers an unrivalled level of style, truly unique experiences and endless activities for all.

Reethi Rah, which means “beautiful island” in Dhivehi is surrounded by the wonders of the sparkling Indian Ocean. Elegant, luxurious, and stylish the One&Only Reethi Rah epitomises five star luxury. This fantastic property is comprised of 130 private villas discreetly placed along the shore – with 98 Beach Villas secluded by lush tropical greenery, and 32 Water Villas floating above the crystal waters of the turquoise lagoon. Each and every villa at the One&Only Reethi Rah is detached and spacious providing the utmost privacy for guests. Designed with contemporary elegance in mind, each villa has been created to celebrate the natural beauty of the island. From the thatched roofing and tropical wooden exteriors, to the use of natural materials in each villa such as coconut shells, sea grass, and silk, you will undoubtedly be impressed by the quality of each element within the villas. The spacious layout accounts for a stylish bathroom suite, complete with a deep bathtub and cascading shower. Generous exterior spaces range from beach verandas to private swimming pools and large over-water decks.

With an enviable location on one of the biggest private islands in the Maldives’ North Malé Atoll. This sprawling five star resort has twelve white-sand beaches. The bright blue bays provide unparalleled access to the warm, clear waters of the lagoon, along with its cornucopia of colourful marine life. Furthermore, the resort is also home to the only PADI National Geographic Dive Centre in the Maldives, where a team of experts will be on hand to deliver a wide range of PADI-certified dive programmes for adults and children as young as 8 years old. All of this makes the resort perfect for diving and snorkelling enthusiasts, or those looking to try something new.

Sink into pure sensation with a Thai massage over the sea, or breathe in richly fragrant spices of a warm oil treatment, all under the expert care of therapists trained in philosophies both ancient and modern. The impressive One&Only Reethi Rah ESPA spa is worth visiting the island for alone and features an extensive menu of therapies and treatments: all personalised experiences based on one-on-one consultations, from relaxing and restorative massages to more modern body rituals.

Dining options are varied with innovative and fresh cuisine prepared with passion and flair. There are several different restaurants to choose from at the resort, although guests can also enjoy private in-villa dining for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Signature restaurant Tapasake, serves modern Japanese cuisine and a selection of sophisticated sake cocktails in a sleek over-water space, while the outdoor dining area has four open-air Teppanyaki stations. The Botanica restaurant prepares natural garden-to-fork cuisine, with many ingredients sourced from the surrounding Chef’s Garden. Fanditha, an exotic beachside restaurant, servers exceptional Middle Eastern cuisine, and it also happens to be the best sunset spot on the island. One of the most popular restaurants on the island is the Reethi restaurant, the location where breakfast is served each day. But by night, the restaurant is transformed into a venue famous for fusion cuisine. French, asian, italian, at the Reethi restaurant you will find it all. After dinner, guests can make their way to the vibrant cocktail bar, Rah Bar, for live music, cool martinis and tropical cocktails. Rah Bar, is just one of the many bars at the resort, each one is welcoming and friendly with a laid back atmosphere.

Each water villa mirrors the tranquillity of the ocean, boasting elegant design, and a light soothing colour scheme. Relish the enchanting views from your gorgeous private deck, and sink into your wrap around hammock suspended over the water.

Recover from jet lag with a quick power nap before taking advantage of the in-villa dining option. From fresh caprese salads and pizzas, to russian selyodka and veal ossobuco, the options are endless here. After a delicious meal, you’ll be raring to go and full of energy. So explore the facilities, and make yourself at home. When you return to your water villa grab your snorkelling set and dive into the crystal waters. Swim out with your travel companion and try to see how many different types of fish you can see.

For your first night visit the Reethi restaurant for dinner. Delectable and innovative, Reethi serves its own fusion of French, Asian and Italian cuisine. The dining space is split into three areas: Earth, Fire and Aqua. Menus feature an enticing mélange of favourite dishes from around the world using the finest and freshest ingredients. Every Monday chefs at the restaurant present a mouthwatering selection of Italian charcuterie, homemade pasta, gnocchi, risotto, and delicious Italian desserts.

Day 2

After a fantastic first day, start day two with a delicious breakfast at Reethi restaurant. After breakfast, make your way to the diving centre for a themed dive! Themed dives are a fantastic way to spend a few hours at the resort. There are shark dives, turtle dives, and wreck dives to choose from. Wreck dives are perfect for those keen to pursue adventure. The wreck is a former tugboat, sunk by the dive school in 1988 at the house reef of Hembadu, southeast of One&Only Reethi Rah. It is close to the reef so the navigation to and from the wreck is rather easy. The boat is a focal point for marine life and is a fish-watchers’ delight.

Prefer to keep your feet firmly on the ground? Book a session with a personal trainer. Just because you’re 5,000 miles from home, you don’t have to give up your workout regime. Your personal trainer will guide you through a personalised health and fitness questionnaire followed by tests to assess your body composition, muscular endurance, stamina and flexibility. Based on the results, your personal trainer will develop a training programme for your stay at the resort and beyond.

No matter how you choose to spend your day, in the evening head to the One&Only spa. This world-class ESPA spa has won countless awards for it’s fantastic spa facilities and spa programme.
