Tanzania Safari Holiday Itinerary

Day 1: London to Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be picked up and transported to the 4* Kibo Palace Hotel in Arusha. Located approximately 45 minutes away from Kilimanjaro International Airport, and just 15 minutes away from Arusha city centre, the hotel is in a perfect location.

The spacious and well-appointed rooms are equipped with air conditioning. Kibo Palace Hotel also features a landscaped garden with a large outdoor pool, a restaurant and spa facilities. The hotel offers a comfortable stay – and works well for a one night stop at the start of your safari holiday.

Days 2-3: Arusha to Tarangire

On day 2 you will be met by your driver/guide for the start of your safari. You will be transferred in a customised 4×4 safari vehicle to Maramboi Tented Camp. Maramboi Tented Camp will be your home for two nights. Located on the edge of Tarangire and Manyara, Maramboi Tented Camp shares its unique location with just one other lodge.

Maramboi Tented Camp is perfectly situated. In Tarangire, during dry season giraffes, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, lions and hippos are common. You can also expect to see a comprehensive variety of bird life, with Tarangire being home to over 500 species ranging from Ostriches to Lovebirds. Whilst Lake Manyara, a lake once described by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I had seen in Africa”, is full of stunning scenery.

Such natural beauty makes Maramboi Tented Camp the perfect choice in the region. Bringing together premium services and genuine hospitality, Maramboi has 38 spacious tented rooms. Each is individually built on a raised deck with an en-suite bathroom. There are also 6 family rooms which are perfect for guests with children.

Each tent has its own terrace where guests can enjoy views of Lake Manyara and the Rift Valley. Every evening a fire is lit where guests at the camp can enjoy the sunset, and dine under the stars, should the weather permit.

Days 4-5: Tarangire to Ngorongoro

You will continue on to Kitela Lodge in the Karatu region. Ideally situated on the top of a valley overlooking the Eastern wall of the Ngorongoro crater guests are invited to enjoy another side of Tanzania. This exclusive lodge is one of the newest properties to be built in the Ngorongoro Highlands. Comprised of 20 colonial style cottages, this boutique lodge is surrounded by beautiful gardens, a coffee plantation and a working farm.

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area spans vast expanses of highland plains, savannah, and forests south-east of Serengeti National Park. Established in 1959 it includes the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest unbroken volcanic caldera. It is the most prominent feature of the park. The crater was born from a volcanic eruption 2-3 million years ago.

The presence of globally threatened species, wildlife, and the annual migration of wildebeest, zebra, gazelles, makes it a spectacular location. And ultimately, means that Ngorongoro is an unmissable destination on a tour of this part of Tanzania.

Days 6-7: Ngorongoro to Serengeti National Park

One of Africa’s truly great safari destinations. Your home for the next 2 nights will be the Serengeti Kati Kati Tented Camp. The Serengeti Kati Kati Camp is a mobile camp, which has three different locations throughout the year. The location changes according to the movement of wildlife, meaning guests have the opportunity to be located as close as possible to the Migration.

From December to March the camp is located on the southern plains. From May to August the camp is situated in the central park,  then and from August to November the camp is located in the north. This tented camp is comprised of approximately four campsites. Each is complete with en-suite showers and a veranda to watch the impressive game from.

As one of the largest wildlife sanctuaries in the world and the largest in Tanzania, Serengeti National Park is picture perfect. It epitomises everything that a luxury safari experience should be. With 1.5 million hectares of Savannah, you can still find yourself to be one of the only tours in any one area of the park. So despite its popularity, and the fame that the Park attracts for the annual migration, it’s still possible to enjoy an intimate experience without lots of crowds. Well as intimate as can be, with over two million wildebeests, and hundreds of thousands of gazelles and zebras for company!

Whatever wonders you see in the Serengeti, you can be sure that they will never leave you. The memories you make here will last a lifetime.

Day 8: Serengeti National Park to Kilimanjaro

Your safari ends today with an onward light aircraft flight from Seronera Airstrip in the Serengeti. Upon return, you will take a second flight as you make your way back home.
