Ashford Castle is perfect for a luxury golf holiday, family holiday, or special occasion. This means that there will be countless ways to spend your first day at the five-star hotel. Swing into action on the 9-hole golf course for a few rounds of fun on a summers evening. As a guest of the hotel, green fees are complimentary and you will be able to hire everything you need upon arrival. If it’s the first day of your family holiday, why not treat the children to a woodland zip wire course? Or perhaps they would like to try their hand (literally) at falconry? The opportunities for fun at Ashford Castle are endless and there is something for everyone. To celebrate a special occasion the extraordinary dining options are the best way to commemorate an anniversary. From intimate dining to grand banqueting, Ashford Castle can create the ambience you desire with a host of personal and thoughtful touches to make each moment memorable.
After a fun-filled day, spend your night in The Billiards Room. Enjoy a game of billiards as you sink into a comfy chair with a glass of your favourite tipple. The room is ideal for a late-night drink in a relaxed cosy setting. A selection of Mr Tollman’s limited edition cigars can be found here too. Should you get peckish, Cuban and Irish tapas is served daily until 10:30 pm.
Start your day with a glorious breakfast before treating yourself to a spa day. You deserve it. The Spa at Ashford Castle was recently awarded ‘Overall Spa of the Year 2018’ by Irish Tatler. Discover tranquillity in the relaxation pool. Unwind in one of five beautiful treatment rooms. And cleanse the mind, body and soul with a hammam session which can be added to any treatment during your time at the spa. Ashford Castle is one of the few luxury hotels to offer gentlemen’s treatments and treatments for under 16s. This means that the whole family can be pampered like a prince, or princess and leave feeling reinvigorated. Some of the gentlemen’s treatments include the Elemis Skin IQ+ facial and Voya Essential back treatment. Whilst under 16s can choose from a range of fairy tale inspired options such as the Rapunzel hair mask, or hour-long ‘Get Ready For The Ball’ experience.
After nourishing your body and soul, it’s now time to nourish your stomach! We recommend the afternoon tea on day 2. Afternoon tea is a mainstay at all of the Red Carnation Collection Hotels and Ashford Castle is no exception. The Lord and Lady Ardilaun traditional afternoon tea is a mouth-watering delight with finely-cut finger sandwiches, warm freshly baked scones with lashings of cream and jam, and delicious pastries. This is no ordinary afternoon tea, as every single element has been elevated to new heights. From the vanilla-scented eclairs with raspberry and caramelia cremeux, to Irish wagyu beef with Pommery mustard and cucumber on malt sourdough, every mouthful will be pure joy. As you would expect from a five-star hotel, vegan options, vegetarian options, and gluten-free options are available too. The tea list is equally impressive with a range of teas available to suit all tastes. Irish breakfast tea is always a popular choice. However, it’s possible to try several different teas throughout. Ashford Castle’s friendly team of waiters and waitresses will be able to make expert recommendations for each stage of the afternoon tea experience.
